Building Permits

The primary mission of the Building Inspection Department is to protect the health, safety and welfare of the people by ensuring a safe building environment. Building Inspection Services enforces the International Building Codes as prescribed by the International Code Council, mandated by and amended by the State of Georgia.

All work to any structure, including new construction, additions, or alterations to an existing structure, must be approved and permitted by the Building Inspector before construction begins.

Application should be submitted to City Hall, in person or via email @ This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., along with building plans, contractor information, and permit fee in the form of cash, check, or money order.

For each contractor, include a copy of:

- Local Business License

- State License

- Certificate of Insurance listing City of Hephzibah

- $1000 Surety Bond
